John King to deliver URI commencement address Alumnus John King, CNN chief national correspondent and anchor of the new evening program John King, USA, will speak at the University of Rhode Island’s undergraduate commencement ceremony on May 23 and receive an honorary doctor of humane letters.
In addition, the University will confer honorary degrees on Sadayuki Sakakibara, president, chief executive officer, and chief operating officer of Toray Industries, Inc.; Lesa Terry, internationally renowned jazz violinist, composer, artistic director, educator, and scholar; and Karen Adams, anchor for WPRI-TV and Fox Providence for more than 20 years. Ballard announces new Educators at Sea outreach program When Oceanography Professor Robert Ballard leads a research expedition in June, students and teachers from Smithfield’s Gallagher Middle School and Narragansett High School will participate through a new Educators at Sea program.
