Summer writing conference to feature Julia Glass The URI 2010 Ocean State Summer Writing Conference, June 24–26, will feature respected writers and poets as its keynote speakers, including National Book Award winner Julia Glass. The conference offers workshops, panels, and seminars in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, and publishing. Thanks to a grant from RISCA, scholarships are available this year. More...
Students receive prestigious scholarship awards Nicole Rohr and Kimberly Lellis-Dibble will receive $15,000 Scholar Awards from PEO International, which promotes educational opportunities for women pursuing doctoral degrees or postdoctoral research.

Professors begin coastal resource study in Puerto Rico URI anthropologists Carlos Garcia-Quijano and John Poggie are exploring the value of Puerto Rico’s coastal resources in a two-year, $115,900 study funded by a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration sea grant.
