The Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences

Take a look at the newest addition to the URI Kingston Campus.

On January 26, 2009, the University of Rhode Island officially opened the doors to the Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences, the largest classroom and research building project in its history.

The 140,000 square-foot facility houses modern teaching laboratories, cutting edge research laboratories, high-tech facilities for DNA sequencing and analysis, faculty offices, a 100-seat classroom, and a two-story, 300-seat auditorium, all to meet the needs of URI's growing environmental biotechnology, life and health sciences programs.

The focal point of a statewide effort to build a new, knowledge-based economy for Rhode Island, the Center will be the hub of cutting-edge research, imaginative undergraduate and graduate education, and modern workforce development and economic growth in RI's biotechnology, health, and life sciences sectors, serving as a platform for statewide innovation and institutional collaboration.
