Cuba Journal/A Sculptural Installation. Flores conveys complex themes—such as her family’s exile, Cuba’s history, and Castro’s dictatorship—in a simple folk art style that includes sculptural toys, puppets, and furniture.

September 30, 3:30 p.m. A tour of the exhibit with the artist.

Abstraction Pure and Impure. Features works by seven contemporary artists.

Larson is director of graduate photography and digital imaging at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He evokes cinema’s many rich intersections with technology, still photography, narrative structures, and personal experience.

Si, Cuba! Color Photographs of Cuba by Alex Pitt

Presented in conjunction with Ana Flores’ “Cuba Journal.” While in Cuba, Pitt became friends with a family in Central Havana that provided him intimate access to the rich daily activities of neighborhood life.

Mexican Women/ Lupita Murillo Tinnenen.

Tinnenen’s work focuses on the cultural issues of a Mexican immigrant community in Fort Worth, Texas, where she was born and raised.
