From the Error Engine: Lutz Hamel, Judd Morrissey, Lori Talley&“Body Language,” an exhibition within the exhibition by Karen Shaw

Lutz Hamel, Judd Morrissey, and Lori Talley, a collaborative team based in Chicago, examine the potential for installing complex temporal structures within digital narrative, and the role of machines in their authorship. Lutz Hamel, who teaches computer science at URI, is an expert in machine learning and evolutionary computing. Karen Shaw, an artist based in New York City, is involved in mixed media and collage derived from conceptual word and number games. Gallery reception on Sunday, January 30 from 2-4 p.m.

Annual Juried Student Exhibition

Juried annually by an outside expert, this special exhibition features all media currently taught at the Department of Art, from drawing through the latest digital technologies. Opening reception and awards ceremony on Thursday, March 31 at 4 p.m.

Jonathan Bailey is a remarkable experimental photographer based in Maine. He uses a Diana camera (a plastic camera) as a vehicle for making haunting studies of exotic sites and mysterious human subjects. Alternative Process Workshop TBA.
